Traeger grills and their pellets, are known for their consistent temperature control, making them a preferred choice for grill masters.

Pairing Pellet Flavors with Food:

The choice of pellet flavour can significantly impact the taste of your grilled dishes. Here’s a breakdown of which pellets pair best with different types of food.  Signature works with them all, and often the best one to start out with:

Red Meats (Beef Venison, and Pork):

Hickory: Ideal for a bold and smoky flavour.

Mesquite: For those who prefer an intense, southwestern taste.

Cherry and Apple will work very well with these too.

Poultry (Chicken and Turkey):

Apple: Adds a sweet, fruity note.

Cherry: Offers a subtle fruitiness.

Fish and Seafood:

Mesquite: Best for a pronounced smokiness.

Vegetables:

Apple: Adds a mild sweetness.

Let’s get cooking!

The best pellet flavour ultimately depends on your personal taste preferences. Traeger encourages grill masters to experiment with different flavours to discover their favourites. Mixing pellets can also create unique profiles, allowing you to tailor the flavour to your liking.  You can always mix them up and see what happens too……

Just a wee remimder:

It might seem frustrating to recommend Traeger pellets for the grills, but there really is a reason.  The quality of your pellets matter, and you must use hardwood ones for the best results.  If you use another kind, there can be no guarantee that the food will come out as well as with Traeger pellets.  Our pellets are also designed to work with the augur and grill to give the best results, so again, using different sizes or density of pellets can totally change the end results.  So handle with care.

To grill or not to grill?
